The Plug’s mission is to build the influencer economy, and to help you grow your community. The Plug enables you to monetize your community through a network of advertisers and payment partners. That means that in order to have an account with us, you will need to follow some rules.
These guidelines are at the core of building trust with both our partners and the community. But don’t worry, those rules are easy to follow, up to industry standards and they still give you plenty of room to be creative and be your most authentic self.
The Plug lets you decide between choosing ads from our library or creating your own ads. If you chose to create your own, these guidelines will help you create content that is both genuine to keep your followers engaged and relevant so that the brand you represent retains their new users.
Being you and truly engaging with the apps you advertise is not only the best way to make a living using the Plug but it also helps you with keeping your audience:
We have a strict policy against baiting downloads such as giveaways or any kind of interaction such as “download the app in my bio for a shoutout”. Your followers should choose to download and use an app you advertise because they find it useful or fun but not because they want to get something in return. If you have doubts about how to follow these guidelines, click here.
You should always identify and clearly tag your ads. This is a legal requirement implemented by the Federal Trade of Commerce. The FTC wants to make sure that ads are not misleading such as lying about your experience with an app. They created guidelines on how to show that you have been paid to talk about an app or a product. Click here if you want to read the FTC guidelines for influencers.
Make sure to always get permission before using someone else’s content or image. Don’t pretend or impersonate someone else by using their brand, image or likeness. Comedy and satire are okay for as long as they don’t blur the line with hate speech or bullying.
