The Plug is here to help you grow as a Creator through community, monetization and other influencer services. This is both a creative and professional community. As such, our guidelines are centered around growth and respect as core values.
We created our community guidelines to keep our community strong and supportive. Our Trust and Safety team works 7 days a week to review content. Keep in mind, our integrity efforts are not just for influencers and creators, but also the Plug employees and our partners. As a result, when reviewing a violation, we review your whole online presence in addition to your presence on the Plug. Our moderation effort is human, not algorithmic or automated. We’re here and happy to answer any questions you may have.
In the rare case where we consider banning an account for violating our guidelines, we will always give the creator a chance to appeal.
Thank you for being a member of the Plug and your commitment to building a safe and vibrant community. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with our team at hi@plugco.in
As in every creative community, you might not agree or like everything you read or see while talking to other creators. You should feel encouraged to share your ideas and ask for feedback. Getting the right kind of feedback is one of the keys to growth. That said, there is a fine line between constructive criticism, harassment or even hate speech. Before you jump into an argument, take the time to think about what you want to say and how it can be perceived. Remember, you can always come back to it the next day when your head is in a better space.
Far too often, influencers or online creators face physical threats as a result of the content they share online. You should not have to worry about your safety, so we draw a strong line when it comes to threats of violence, doxxing, and swatting. This type of behavior is not allowed. We will work with law enforcement when necessary especially if the threats were made directly on the Plug app.
You can’t run a plug account if you or your content can lead to harm or self-harm. If we believe you may be at risk of hurting yourself or others, we will contact you to offer resources and support. We may also block your account temporarily, so you have time to focus on yourself.
We don’t allow violent and graphic content within ads or anywhere else in the Plug app. This is especially true if the content in question glorifies violence and suffering. That said, we carve a safe space in this policy for content that has education or journalist value.
We don’t approve social media accounts that have nudity or pornography. Likewise, the ads that you create and submit to the team cannot feature nudity and pornography. You also are not allowed to share nudity or pornography in any way through the Plug. If you already have an account with the Plug, you might wonder whether one of the social media accounts you run is a fit, especially if the content is a little bit more mature. Remember that you can always contact us if you have any doubts. We will be happy to review anything you send us and offer guidance.
The Plug is committed to creating a safer Internet for the younger generation as they are the most vulnerable. As a reminder of our terms, users need to be at least 13 years old to sign up with the Plug. In accordance with FTC guidelines, we also don’t allow accounts that are specifically targeting children under the age of 13.
As we are fully committed to child safety, we have a zero-tolerance policy for the sexualization of minors. We don’t allow people running accounts that might sexualize minors in any way. Don’t use the community to groom minors. Please note, we report any illegal content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The Plug is a place to build your community and as such we don’t allow certain people to join. This includes people who are involved with violent groups or have been convicted of a dangerous crime.
Once you create a Plug account, we will let you change your information as long as it matches your initial identity. You cannot sell or buy Plug accounts. This is a security measure put in place to make sure identities are valid, and bad actors can’t re-enter the community. If you are the victim of a scam, please contact our Trust and Safety team. We might not be able to arbitrate or offer compensation, we will review the case carefully.
At the moment, we don’t allow influencers to have multiple Plug accounts. If you have a new social media presence, please add your new social account to your existing Plug account rather than create a new Plug account. When we believe your account is out of date, our Trust and Safety team may request that you update your information. If someone blocks you, don’t try to create a new account to contact them again. If you’re having trouble accessing your account, please reach out and our Support staff can help you get back in!
The Plug’s community features enable you to contact other influencers and creators. It is a fun way to connect with and learn from others. Please don’t abuse the features. Don’t spam or scam other members of the community. Don’t use the Plug to release to malware or phishing schemes. Don’t use automated scripts to collect information about the Plug’s team and its users.
